Got the legs back to alright levels in the past couple of days, but racing in this heat was not taken well by my cardio-pulmonary system, today. At least I could hang on for dear life on the climbs, but so did everybody else, too. Except for these 4 guys that broke away right after the start... Long story short, it was a classic race of attacking and chasing until a mass (messy) finale. With 2k to go, I still looked in contention, but messed it up when got boxed in, ended up on the green verge twice, and lost out lots of positions by the time the sprint had launched. Not the nicest race I have done this year, but hey there is always a next😉.
After an eighteen years break from competitive road cycling and any other sports I got back on the bike in 2011. This blog summarizes in retrospect my first period from 1982-1994 then fast forward to 2011 and finally gets to the turning point, my "revelofication" with my first race in September 2012. From that point in time this blog turns into a race diary with interspersed posts of a more reflective nature.
